Researchers study these structures.

Mimicry of these constituent elements of nature would make it possible to innovate and offer products that are more in harmony with the environment around us.

Proteins and complex carbohydrates like chitin, cellulose and keratin provide structure and function to plants and animals. These biopolymers give the living world valuable water-repellent properties, strength, flexibility, color, ...

 

@werewool takes inspiration from it to apply it to textiles!

Natural proteins are grown in the laboratory to color clothing.

The dyes and dyeing processes used today would be replaced by the combination of protein and textile fiber polymer.

 

The same approach could also be used and extended to other functionalities.

 

Funding of $3.7 million will allow werewool to continue its development.
